ADN
As an entrepreneur in inland navigation, you know that regulations regarding hazardous substances are becoming increasingly strict. The ADN (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways) is the leading authority here. As of ADN 2019, the legislation has been fully harmonised with the ATEX directive, which has far-reaching consequences for both dry cargo and tanker shipping.
The harmonisation with ATEX means that new requirements apply to both the construction and operation of vessels. This increases your risk of unannounced inspections by authorities like the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (I-L&T), and insurance companies are also imposing stricter demands on your vessel’s explosion safety.
A pragmatic ADN plan for your vessel
Every vessel and every situation is unique. That’s why we’ve developed a modular, à la carte plan. You choose the services that are relevant to your specific situation, so you only pay for what you truly need.
This includes:
- Documentation: We prepare all relevant documents to demonstrate the explosion safety of your vessel.
- Equipment Assessment: We assess the equipment on board through targeted inspections.
- Risk Assessment: We perform a specific risk assessment on equipment installed before 2003, such as pumps.
- Certification: If necessary, we guide the certification process for existing equipment.
- Liaison: We act as your representative with government authorities or inspection bodies.
- Training: We provide training for your crew members on the new regulations and procedures.
Our experience on board
Our experts have extensive experience with both new builds and existing inland vessels. We identify bottlenecks during personal discussions and on-board visits. We always look for the most suitable solutions for your situation. Thanks to our knowledge of the regulations, we ensure a seamless connection between the situation on board and the situation at loading or unloading locations.
Moreover, we offer the unique service of on-site visits in the Benelux and Germany, allowing us to see the situation with our own eyes and act immediately.
